Vintage Levi’s 517 Saddleman Jeans Now Available at AMERICANA Classic Vintage in Stockholm

Levi’s 517 Saddleman boot-cut jeans were originally designed in 1969.  These are Levi’s answer to cowboy jeans, with a fit that can be worn over stiff leather boots. 517s are hard to find outside of the United States and most vintage pair are made in the U.S.A. or Mexico.

Most 517 jeans are sold in rigid 14.5 ounce denim. These Levis jeans feature a five-pocket slim styling, which fit at the waist with a button closure and zipper fly.

Most of the denim fabric that 517s are made from is heavily starched before being cut and sewn into jeans. This rigid beginning to the jeans gives them a crisp finish, dark color and unaltered fit that last for a long time, even in vintage 517s.
