Cut-offs are created by cutting the legs off pants to make shorts, leaving them unhemmed and left to fray. Cut-offs are a do-it-yourself fashion item and can be custom-made to the wearer’s preference, by either chopping them off below the knees or anywhere above.
Jeans which are cut off as butt-hugging short shorts are called “Daisy Dukes,” named after the character who wore them on the American TV show “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
Reaching all points of the cultural spectrum, Daisy Dukes were later immortalized by the 69 Boyz in the hip-hop song “Daisy Dukes.”
